Beta Valve is pleased to announce the availability of the ACL Series 107, 207, 117, 177 & 277 valves with WRAS materials for the control of hot and cold water.

Drinking water is a natural resource essential for human activities and the continued survival of living beings.
In 2025 the Earth will house about 8 billion people and all of them will need plenty of water. This will mean at least 20% more than the current consumption, especially when we consider the increased demand for food. In Agriculture roughly 70-80% of the available water is used, while only 15% is used by industry with the remainder being used for civil purposes. Water is abundant on our planet, but already with today's current population it is becoming a scarce resource, especially where there is the greatest density of population.

The water purification processes makes it drinkable even when it is not. A classic water purification processes is the addition of chlorine as a disinfectant. At the same time calcium is introduced to raise the pH and safeguard the integrity of the pipes controlling of the possible corrosion of the components which are manufactured in metallic materials.

Recent surveys have indicated that in the coming years the water business will have a turnover worth hundreds of billions of euro. This trend is mainly linked to the privatization of water distribution, particularly in Europe, where it is becoming a normal situation. This could lead to turning a resource that should be available to everyone into an important element of economic negotiations in the near future.

Government agencies of many countries have recently focused their attention on water quality by imposing strict control measures on distribution systems and control of the fluid.
WRAS (Water Regulations Advisory Scheme) are one of the best known and internationally recognized committees and are particularly dedicated to the care and protection of public health by preventing contamination of public water supplies and encouraging the efficient use of water by promoting and facilitating compliance with the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations and Scottish Water Bye-laws. Rigorous tests on the products, components and carefully controlled production processes allow the release of the WRAS certification.

The WRAS certification guarantees that the product complies with the security requirements in the UK for those products intended for use with drinking water. The requirements for the equipment to be connected to the water network are specified by law. The production process is carefully evaluated and must ensure that the product on the market complies with the one approved. The certification process is changing depending on the type of raw material or finished product and the type of material taken into consideration.

Product Description

The indirectly actuated servo assisted valves are suitable to control high flows with a low power consumption. The valves consist of a main membrane (or piston) and a piloting system: typically a 2-way solenoid valve kit.

All the indirectly actuated valves are subject to the principle of the servo drive: they use the energy of the fluid input to open and close the valve seal (diaphragm). As a consequence, to operate properly, they require a minimum pressure differential between the inlet and outlet.

The valve series available with WRAS approved seal materials are:
