Oxygen

Oxygen applications

Although oxygen it is not itself flammable it can react with most materials and it does support combustion. Oxygen reduces the flash point temperature at which materials start to burn and increases both the speed of combustion and the flame temperature.
The higher the oxygen content and pressure in a system the lower will be the ignition temperature and the more vigorous will be the combustion,up to explosive levels.  This means that materials that do not normally burn in air will ignite in a pure oxygen environment.  To control oxygen safely all valve and system components in touch with oxygen must be specially cleaned and degreased.

During manufacture the metal parts of a solenoid valve are exposed to oils, grease and cutting fluids, even after normal industrial cleaning processes small traces may remain. Although tolerable in most valve applications all traces of oils and grease must be totally removed if  the valve is to be used with on oxygen service as oxygen and lubricants can produce an explosive combination, possibly leading to a serious accident.

Beta Valve offer a wide range of  2-way and 3-way, brass and stainless steel solenoid valves manufactured by ACL srl that are factory degreased for oxygen service.  ACL’s solenoid valves are widely used across industry and when cleaned and degreased are suitable for a diverse range of oxygen service applications in medicine, aerospace and industry.  After being degreased by the manufacturer ACL’s oxygen valves are individually packed in sealed bags to avoid contamination prior to their use.
