The R Steam series has been announced by Italian solenoid valve manufacturer RPE srl; these normally- closed solenoid valves have been designed to control steam and high-temperature fluid.
The R steam series of solenoid valves make use of Radel® polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) a high performance sulfone polymer from Solvey Plastics with high heat resistance suitable for use in food-applications, typically this includes espresso and cappuccino type coffee machine.
Reliability and long term durability are ensured by the use of RPE's innovative and patented lime scale-proof system. This self-cleaning design combined with the use of dry-armature (media-separated) construction ensures that the fluid does not come into contact with the armature and return spring.
The simple bayonet connection between the coil assembly and the valve body means that the working parts can be easily inspected and fast body exchange carried out. The same bayonet fitting makes the use of custom valve bodies very straight forward.
The solenoid valve inlet is 1/8" BSP (GAS) thread and the outlet is a barbed hosetail suitable for flexible tube.
The Steam R Series will operate over a pressure range of 0-5 bar at room temperature. The maximum steam temperature is 140°C. The valve is normally closed, with a working orifice diameter of DN 2 mm. The valve can be mounted in any position.
